Our Capabilites
Mining with our innovative technological modules and state of the art heavy duty machinery to the lab where we carry out analysis and separation with cutting edge technology and skilled lab scientists and cutters, we diligently aim to deliver the best stones to our clients.
With a great respect for the natural world and the communities that inhabit it, we believe that those who mine gemstones should do so with transparency, legitimacy and integrity.
Freemans GemLab is the operator and 75% owner of both the Kagem emerald mine in Zambia (one of the world’s largest producing emerald mine) and the Montepuez ruby mine in Mozambique (one of the most significant recently discovered ruby deposits in the world).
We have set new benchmarks around responsible practices, responsible mining and creating a positive impact for stakeholders, including local communities and our international team. We have zero tolerance for corruption and bribery and uphold policies and processes to guide internal decision making.
Responsible sourcing for us means implementing industry-leading policies and practices across operations, transparency in our auction sales process, an active role in working groups to modernize the sector, projects to improve health, education and livelihoods for the communities around our mines and conservation efforts (#conservationgemstones) to protect the worlds great wildlife and biodiversity.
As well as supplying the majority of the world’s rough rubies and emeralds, we work with international jewelry brands and other creative partners to raise the profile of gemstones through inspiring collaborations.
